Curriculum - Computing

ICT is integrated into every subject and the school benefits from a bank of 30 mobile devices in each POD which are used in class. 60 of these devices are the latest Windows based touch screen tablets. This allows every child to have access to a mobile device. The school boasts a whole school wireless network enabling the mobile devices to be used anywhere within the school.

Every classroom has an Interactive Board which are mostly Smartboards. The Year 5 classes have the latest iboards (interactive televisions) installed which have proved very popular and over time more classes will be upgraded. The school also benefits from state of the art stage sound and light systems, an interactive floor and software to allow the children to create stop frame animations.

The school has a high speed Internet connection allowing lessons to access resources on the Internet to augment the children’s learning. Internet Safety is very important and not only is our internet connection filtered but typing any inappropriate words on any computer within the school will cause the event to be logged and investigated by staff.

September 2014 saw the introduction on the new Computing curriculum and as part of this children from Year 2 to Year 6 are learning how to create computer programmes using Scratch.

‘The school’s work to keep pupils safe and secure is good. Pupils are aware of how to keep themselves safe. ‘ Ofsted Report April 2015
