In Geography, the children at The Victory Primary School will be learning to be active and independent Geographers. They will be inspired and challenged to ask questions about the world around them and develop skills to support them in becoming lifelong Geography learners.
Throughout their time at The Victory Primary School, the children will be progressively learning about physical and human geography. They will develop the skills used to identify their place in their local community in Early Years and Year 1, to applying their mapping skills and the impact they can have on their environment in KS2. They will be exploring the differences in environments and changes in weather and landscapes. They learn about a range of physical geography topics; from erupting and dormant volcanoes to the ecosystem of a rainforest. Using technology such as Google Earth, the children will have the opportunity to learn, see and explore the areas of the planet that they are learning about. They will learn about how they belong to the planet and being to understand their role in the world, making their learning relevant to them.
The children have the opportunity to use equipment such as atlases, maps and compasses to help them explore the world around them within a range of geographical topics.
Each term, the children have a Geography focus to their learning.
